Bringing Pro Sports to Las Vegas, NHL's Golden KnightsReal Sports w Bryant GumbelHBO

(INDISTINCT CHATTER) ANNOUNCER:
Vegas! On your feet! And make some noise! -(CROWD CHEERING)
-These... are your Vegas... (HOLDS NOTE) ...Golden Knights! (CROWD WHISTLING & CHEERING) ANDREA KREMER: Joe and Gavin
Maloof are the minority owners of the Vegas Golden Knights, the NHL's newest expansion team. We met the brothers at
the pre-season home opener. -This place is sold out.
-Yeah. (CHUCKLES) -Yes.
-Yeah. The passion that's here
in the city for this team is-- it's real. It's not fake.

It's not phony.
It's-- it's there. Our season ticket base
is probably in the top five in the NHL already. Living in Vegas
for all these years... Would you ever have really
thought that tonight was a reality? That you'd see
a pro-sports team, and, oh, by the way
you happen to own it? -(LAUGHING)
-Whoa! Well, we always--
we always hoped -that that would happen.
-Yeah.

But nobody ever got it done. KREMER: While the Maloofs have
owned NBA teams in other cities, they always wanted to bring
pro-sports home to Vegas. Tonight, they finally succeeded. You guys have owned teams
before, but how different is it with this team since it's
the first professional team ever in Las Vegas? Maybe they'll put us down
in history. (LAUGHING) -GAVIN MALOOF: Maybe.
-Maybe, who knows? -ANDREA: Maybe?
-Might get a little big. Do you feel the
historical nature tonight? -Historic, historic.
-Yes.

Yes. Yes. You know, so long, people never
thought this was real. Even when we announced season
tickets, they were like, -"Well, is it really gonna
happen because..."
-JOE MALOOF: Yeah.

-Yeah! (CHEERING)
-(CROWD ROARS) GAVIN: Yay!.
